Daisy me Rollin'

I have a favourite joke with which I have garnered many laughs and silly as it is, I told it about 3 times today! It's a great "Knock, knock" joke and before you... knock it, know that even mild fans of Hip Hop music LOVE this joke! Its better performed than scripted but... oh well:
Knock, knock!
Who's there??
Daisy!
Daisy who??
Daisy me rollin' dey Hatin'... hahaha

Daisy me rollin
We saw so many Daisies!!! Wow!

An invite from the fabulous folk at SANPARKS arrived in my mailbox during the dark and wet days of winter that said: We'd love for you to join us on Monday 27 July 2015 for a private tour of the flowers – NB: INVITATION IS WEATHER DEPENDENT. Well, the trip was postponed and rescheduled for Wednesday, 2 September, possibly the most beautiful day of 2015 so far!

Each year thousands of wild flowers transform the West Coast National Park's veld into carpets of colour between early August and late September. The official Flower Season kicks off on 1 August and closes on 30 September allowing visitors to access the prolific Postberg section, of the Park, which is closed to the public throughout the rest of the year.

Our tour of this beautiful Park began with a tea at the historic Geelbek Restaurant where they are passionate about delicious, home cooked, soul food.

After a briefing of how delicious our lunch would be and a rather convincing insight into the restaurant as a Wedding Venue, we made our way to Postberg.

The magical Langebaan Lagoon, white sandy beaches of Kraalbaai, incredible birdlife and of course carpets of flowers await you! As a member of the media I was delighted to see a favourite colleague of mine from eTV News, Tanya Nefdt, there to cover a display of flowers that the Park Manager, Pat, determines to be the best in 8 years!!

Depending on the amount of rainfall in the preceding winter months, West Coast's Flower Season is fast becoming rival competition to other popular flower viewing sites in the country and as you can see from these pictures, it's well worth taking a drive up to the West Coast National Park!

After a superb lunch of Hake and Calamari at Geelbek Restaurant  we headed back to Cape Town knowing that a return journey with family or a friends is a must before the season ends!

The great news is that South African National Parks (SANParks) will be opening its 10th annual SA National Parks Week from 14 to 18 September 2015. This initiative in partnership with Total SA is in line with SANParks' vision statement of 'A sustainable National Park System Connecting Society'.

The week grants free access to most of the 21 national parks for day visitors, especially people from the local communities. It should be noted that free access to parks does not include free access to accommodation facilities and other tourist activities. Some of the parks will be extending the week to include the weekend, and this includes the West Coast National Park that will grant you free access 14 -19 September 2015!! Please do yourself the privilege of Rollin 'in dem Daisies!;)
